Interesting idea, overheard on the Scientific American podcast. The idea is that there are characteristics of ideas that allows them to spread and be disseminated widely, even if they are of poor quality. For example, the Four Humors theory of medicine held for a couple of thousand years, even though it is completely bogus.

Makes me think about things like Intelligent Design and the appeal of right wing philosophies in general.

Charlie Joiner was one of the first football archetypes for me. Like Jim Rice (the big, strong, slow footed slugger), Joiner was a precise route runner and a first down machine.

Charlie Joiner, JJ Jefferson, Kellen Winslow, and Chuck Muncie.

Dan Fouts at the controls.

Good times.

New English sentences, logically, in my mind, never before uttered in human history:

"Do you have the pharmacist's cheese?"

"Who peed on my dresser?"

"Get your feet out of the popcorn."

All three have been uttered in my presence.

"WASHINGTON, Dec. 2 — Two days before he resigned as defense secretary, Donald H. Rumsfeld submitted a classified memo to the White House that acknowledged that the Bush administration’s strategy in Iraq was not working and called for a major course correction."

(from www.nytimes.com)(http://tinyurl.com/yjvkc5)

Rumsfeld added that water is wet, rain usually falls from the sky, and golf clubs are a poor substitute for a soup spoon.

"Former Senator Rick Santorum."

Has a ring to it, doesn't it?

What is with the robot on Fox Sports football games?

From a GOP fundraising email:

"Michael, as a steadfast supporter of the Republican Party, I know how committed you are to conservative principles... from winning the War on Terror, to keeping taxes and spending under control, to securing our borders. Nothing would be more disastrous for these principles than allowing Democrats to take control of the U.S. House and Senate."

...uh, yeah. Other than letting Republicans remain in control, that is.

Does anybody seriously believe that statement?
