Happy Birthday, Billy Joel

Tomorrow, May 9, is Billy Joel's 60th birthday.

I don't think any single artist has meant more to me than William Martin Joel. He has been there for me in good times and bad, and his music speaks to me in a thousand different ways.

Happy Birthday to the Piano Man.

  1. A bottle of red... a bottle of white... it all depends upon your appetite. I'll meet you anytime you like... in our Italian restaurant.

That's my favorite of Billy's. I have a copy of Cold Spring Harbor and he sounds like a chipmunk on it. Do you have that album? Does he sound that way on yours? I have always wondered about that.

Here's another Happy Birthday to Piano Man! And thanks for this tune! Very cool beans, Michael.

  2. Oops... it's "I'll meet you anytime you want" not like! My error.

  3. Yes-he was never happy with the mixing on that album. For years and years afterwards, he would not talk about the album or play any songs from it. "She's Got A Way" was not a hit until he released the live version on "Songs from the Attic".

  4. I think that if someone was to make a sound track for my life... Billy Joel would be a major part of it.

I tend to connect memories to songs... they take me back to where and when, if you know what I mean and Billy was certainly there.
