100 Words: Jar Of Flies

Velvet Verbosity, who is not made, technically, of velvet, at least as far as I know, but is verbose, has renewed the 100 Word Challenge, which you can find (and join!) here. The key word is "JARS", and my entry is called "Jar of Flies".

“What CD is that?” She looked at me from the passenger’s seat, her long dark hair framing her anxious face.

“Jar of Flies.”

“Who is it?”

“Alice In Chains.”

Her nose wrinkled in disgust. “Ewww.”

“No, it’s not like their usual stuff. It’s acoustic. Quiet.”

“Oh.” She didn’t seem happy about it. She had overcome so much to be here, with me, driving along local roads, my music flooding the car.

Her gaze returned to the roadside as the world whipped by.

“When are we going to get there?” she asked me softly.

“Home?”

“Yeah.”

“I’m there now,” I said.
