Seriously, we have many many more than two parties. The problem is, all but two of the parties have the "sure to lose" strategy where time and again they fight to win the hearts and minds of up to two percent of the population.
The only other one that even tried to have any sort of broad appeal in decades was Perot's Reform Party effort, but that quickly degenerated.
