I struggled with this one, I have to tell you. The word is bustier, as in the garment, not the adjective. The challenge is here. The title is "Wonderful Tonight".
I stared at her. I was dressed, hair still damp from the shower, while she was still assembling her outfit. “What's that?,” I asked.
“What?” she said.
“That, I said, pointing to a white, lacy piece that looks like what Wonder Woman wore under her costume.
“A bustier,” she said.
“Oh.” She pulled it on, stretching, arranging, sucking her breath in and then letting it out. I saw her ribs push against it.
“Looks uncomfortable,” I said.
“It is.”
“Looks good.”
“It does.”
Being her was more complicated than I thought.
Complicated. Good word for women and bustiers! Great job, very natural.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a lot of work to look good.
ReplyDeleteLoved reading the males view of bustier in only 100 words. Oh things we ladies do to look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
ReplyDeleteGood one. I love the Wonder Woman comparison. Sometimes it's not easy living up to a man's fantasies.
ReplyDeleteLooking good is SOOO overrated, especially when it equals pain :P
ReplyDeleteGood job!
I liked this! Great dialogue and the last line, believable!
ReplyDeleteOh and so very true. I believe the old saying "Beauty must stand pain" is so fitting for this situation. The things we do to make ourselves look "good". What's funny though is that our men often think we look good even without all the primping, plucking, and torture we put ourselves through. I guess we just feel the need to do it anyway. It's hard to believe that someone else would find us attractive when we don't feel attractive.
