Game Fourteen, Final: Thank You, Rob McKenna

Ten points if you can identify why that headline is funny.

The Powers That Be have called the early game in the Day/Night Doubleheader at Fenway Park, thus putting a Win into the Red Sox' column, 10-1. That pushes the team to 8-6 with their sixth straight win.

They play again tonight at 7, Francisco Liriano against Brad Penny.

  1. Rats! No points for me. I do not get the funny, but find that it's like dangling a worm in front of a fish... I am hooked and want to know.

Also... I do have a passion for the Red Sox. Does that give me any points? ;-)

  2. Many, many points in my book.

The reference is to a character in Douglas Adams' novel Mostly Harmless-Rob McKenna, a truck driver, who, unbeknownst to him, is a Rain God-whereever he goes, it rains.

  3. Cool beans! Now I have to read it. I work in a library and we do have it.

Hey, thanks for the points! So do you ever sing Tessie? I often hear it in my head now as soon as the season begins. Ha. (Obviously a Dropkick Murphy's fan too.)
