Game Thirty Five: Juuuuuuuuuust A Bit Outside

At Fenway today, the Blue Jays scored three runs on Travis Snider's RBI double and home run, while the Red Sox were busily scoring not at all. Suddenly, trailing 3-0 in the 9th and having wasted a fine emergency start from Old Man Wakefield, the Sox rallied, scoring one run off of Toronto Closer of the Day Kevin Gregg. Then David Ortiz, who was 2 for 4 on the day to bring his average up to .200, was then called out on strikes on a ball that, reputable reports suggest, was closer to the visitor's dugout than it was to home plate. Much discontent was voiced, resulting in the ejection of the usually placid manager Terry Francona. But the ruling remained, and America's Next Top Outfielder, Darnell McDonald, popped up to end the game in a 3-2 loss.

The Red Sox are 18-17 on the year, and after a day off tomorrow, they travel to Detroit and then head into New Jack City.

  1. The boy gets to go to Target Field on Saturday, in his baseball uniform to meet some Twins players, get baseball tips from them and some of the coaches, and generally pretend to be a pro-ball player for a few hours.
