On Getaway Day, the final day of the West Coast Road Swing/Death March, Josh Beckett made his second strong start, allowing three runs over seven innings. His mates rose up just in time, Marco Polo's 8th inning grand slam putting the game away for Boston.
Boston is 58-44, 6 1/2 games out of first and 4 1/2 games out of the wild card. (Obviously, those numbers are due to go up or down, depending on New York and Tampa's results tonight.)
